BE READY TO FACE THE ELEMENTS
Always check the weather conditions before you go – you may be tough, but Mother Nature is even tougher! Prevent overexposure to the sun by covering up and staying hydrated. On the coldest days, consider that a drysuit or wetsuit can literally save your life.
BE SMART AND DON'T PANIC
Be honest with yourself about your skill level. Don't go out during a storm or ride a wave you're unsure of - get me? If it's too windy or you start to feel uncomfortable, DON'T PANIC. To get back to shore, all you have to do is lie on your stomach and paddle, just like you would on a surfboard!
KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
There's not much to see if you always look down. Keep your head up and admire the view! It promotes stability as it evenly distributes body weight.
ENGAGE THE TRUNK
Prevent your arms from getting tired by using these abdominal muscles. Focus on engaging the core with every stroke!
TAKE CARE OF YOUR EQUIPMENT
Don't forget to give your gear a good rinse at the end of the day to keep it looking and feeling great for years to come. Always make sure your board and accessories are completely dry before storing them. Best to store in a dry and safe place.
